Multi-Hybrid Acceleration for Multi-Physical Simulation

Taisuke Boku (Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba)

Abstract

In this talk, I will present our current work toward multi-hybrid accelerated supercomputing based on a coupling of GPU and FPGA to compensate their performance characteristics with each other. At CCS, University of Tsukuba, we have been researching such a new solution toward the next generation of accelerated computing, not just by GPU only, and developed the world first GPU-FPGA multi-hybrid accelerated supercomputer named Cygnus. I will present the basic concept of our project, several underlying tools to support it as well as programming environment, and a typical application.
