Economic Aspects in HPC#

Abstract#
For quite some years already we see a decline in annual improvement of compute performance. Moore's law comes to an end or is dead already, respectively. The talk will highlight facts that underline this technological chance. Connected to it is a change on a macroeconomic level. There are analyses that connect the advent of multicore to a decline of GDP in highly developed countries with important computer industry. The talk will analyse potential consequences for the HPC ecosystem being composed of vendors, compute centers and users.
