mdx II: The Second Cloud Platform of mdx for Supporting Data Science and Cross-Disciplinary Research Collaborations¶
Tomonori Hayami (Osaka Univ.)
Abstract¶
In November 2024, mdx II started its service at the D3 Center, Osaka University. This system is one of the computing platforms built on a common concept with mdx I launched at the University of Tokyo in 2021. mdx I and II are jointly operated by 9 universities and 2 research institutes in Japan. The mdx platforms aim to support data science and cross-disciplinary research collaborations by providing virtualization services composed of wide-area networks, high- performance computers, and storage. The mdx II can also provide private environments that are unique to each project for high-performance data processing and analysis. The environments have access to Lustre storage and object storage for data aggregation and are connected to SINET (Science Information NETwork), the Japanese academic backbone network.
