Efficient and Performant Implementation of Agent-Based Models#

Abstract#
This talk presents an the lessons learned from the development of the CoSMic code. The CoSMic model is developed and used at HLRS in cooperation with the Federal institute for Population Research to simulate the cause of the Corona Virus spread in Germany and provide four weeks ahead forecasts of the intensive care units occupied by COVID-19 patients. We will discuss performance improvements achieved by algorithmic developments as well as implementation strategies for the efficient execution of agent based models in general.
