AOBA: The most powerful vector supercomputer in the world#
Hiroyuki Takizawa (Tohoku Univ.)
Abstract#
Supercomputer AOBA at Tohoku University Cyberscience Center will be upgraded in August 2023. The upgraded AOBA called "AOBA-1.5" will be powered with the latest version of SX-Aurora TSUBASA equipped with the third-generation vector engine, VE30. The theoretical peak performance of the entire system will exceed 21 Pflop/s, meaning that AOBA-1.5 will be the world's largest vector supercomputer at the birth. More importantly, the aggregated memory bandwidth is about 10 PB/s, which will definitely be effective for memory-intensive applications we are targeting. In this talk, I will share with you the expected sustained performance of AOBA-1.5 based on some early evaluation results with our key applications. Also, I will talk about our recent research activities relative to SX-Aurora TSUBASA in collaboration with NEC.
